Hey there, thank you for stopping by!
If you're reading this text, i guess you're a curious one just like me. So i'll allow myself to get a little personal here.
I was born and raised in Hanoi, Vietnam, but i'm currently based in Singapore. Maybe that's why my stories often feature the quiet voices of people who live between borders, accentuating the themes of identity, belonging and loneliness.
What type of writer am i? That's a question i have a hard time answering. Sometimes, i long for a pre-shaped box in which i could fit. Other times, i don't feel the need to limit myself. I write when there's a story to tell, then the story chooses its form, be it a poem, a prose, or even a script.
I'm not at all the ambitious type of writer, though. On the whole, i write only to see inwards.
During my MA course in Creative Writing at LASALLE, i developed a knack for editing. Perhaps it was my way of procrastinating, but i enjoy reviewing my peers' stories and racking my brain to improve them much more than labouring through my own. The praise and appreciation for my feedback during our workshops really led me down this path.
As a writer myself, i understand how it feels to have your work overedited (even though i'm sure most of the time it happens out of the editor's desire to be helpful). Hence, the lowercase 'i' you've been seeing here – it's my commitment to stay invisible, egoless when editing others' words.
When i'm not writing or editing, you'll most likely find me digging anything related to Japanese narrative art or sniffing books at random stores. On Sundays, that's when i live my rom-com life as a devoted florist.
That's me. Can't wait to hear/read your story!
